PROFILE

What’s not to love about everyone’s favorite well-mannered orphan? Nick Morrow is no man, but he sure knows how to act like one. Having survived a psychopath killer, getting dumped in Venice alone, and being raised by Maddox and Cali consecutively only to find himself in an orphanage, it’s a wonder he’s still sane. This boy has a heart of gold, cares deeply for those he loves, however he can be bitter when someone betrays him. At the same time, Nick enjoys class field trips as well as cake batter ice cream. Need a friend? Nick’s your man!

Venice, Italy
Port Castelló
Situated at the northwestern end of the Adriatic Sea, Port Castelló lies on an isle in the crescent-shaped Laguna Veneta. It remains a major Italian port in the northern Adriatic Sea and is one of the world’s oldest tourist and cultural centres. Here is where refugees are first brought in, as well as the place of Headquarters’ for the Di'Stato. A large dock that stretches out into the lagoon, the Port is full of ships and boats of all sizes, and the surface is a bumpy travel, especially when the tide comes in. Refugees are only allowed here once when they arrive; after, their presence is forbidden and denied. Topics

Al Covo
Near the opening of the Grand Canal, and in a fairly rough part of town, there is a building that looks old and peeling. With it's outside a creamy-tan, the blocks of rock and the paint seem to both be chipping. However, looks have been known to be deceiving. Inside is where everything really goes down. Originally begun as a Cafe, Al Covo was quickly transformed into three different floors. In the basement there is a club, which is open six nights a week from sunset to the very first hours of the morning. One floor above it is a modest Diner/Cafe, where coffee seems to be the specialty. Then, one floor directly above that is the bar, which has a very large selection of alcoholic beverages. No matter where you come from, this has always been the place where everything happens. Topics

St. Marks Square
As one of the great squares of the world, St. Marks Square isn't a square, but rather a trapezoid. Even so, it is one of the busiest places in the city. Certain days can get so intensely packed with people, while other days there is a near constant covering of pigeons. Surrounding the square are numerous small cafes, shops, and stands. Small tables are set up on the outskirts to assist those whom walk here, and there is normally someone playing an instrument for spare coins. Even through the bustle, it's a very calming place, shadowed by the Bell Tower. Festivals to preserve a sense of normalcy are more often than not hosted here, and it is not uncommon to see dancers in the square. Topics

Riviera Inn
Previously a five star resort and spa, the Inn has recently transformed itself into something else. Because people no longer come and go in the city, the need for an Inn seems almost nonexistent, and thus the owners of the Riviera Inn have opened their doors to most people. A building of four floors, the first two are fully devoted to helping the homeless and giving refuge to those new in the city who have yet to find a place to stay. And the other two floors? Standing in as mock apartments for those with the currency for it. That is, until they can find somewhere more suitable to live. While the Inn has been transformed, it still seems to keep its elegant sheen. Topics

The Grand Canal
Winding straight through Venice like a snake, the Grand Canal was once a prime way to travel as well as a big tourist attraction. Small motor boats now sit unused on the banks of the Canal, and several bridges arch over it, bringing the two mainlands together. At each of the openings to where the Canal meets the open sea, a constant band of armed soldiers guard against anyone getting in or out. Fish have grown more abundant with the lack of human use, and the occasional piece of trash can be floating in these waters. In truth, some people still like to go out on the water on manually rowed boats. Topics

Strada Nova
Further west in Cannaregio, on the way to the railway station, the wide pedestrian thoroughfare of Strada Nova has a mixture of souvenir stores and everyday shops. What used to be a popular tourist attraction is now a vital everyday place to go for some people in Venice. Be it shopping for food or clothing, this seems like the place to go. Black street lamps line the street on each side, and people on bikes is not a rare thing to see. Even in the calming setting, there is always a sense of urgency to get things done. Not to mention the failed attempts at a feeling of normalcy even if you are an endangered species. Topics

Porfirio Pub
Since the split of Venice in 2020, this pub has quickly become the center of social life in the East part of the city. A simple brick building overlooking one of the smaller canals, Porfirio looks smaller than it actually is. Inside, the main part of the building is littered with numerous wooden tables. The bar stretches not only one wall, but two. Stools line the bar, creating a decent drinking space. There is an upstairs that is open to guests, as it is more so a deck overlooking the tables below. During most nights this place can be packed, and it's not uncommon to hear about sly pickpockets that take their picking here. Topics

Salvatore Hospital
Placed firmly in one of the better off neighborhoods, this hospital has been around for quite a long time. Looking oddly new from the outside, the inside is clean and pristine. In total there are five floors, each with its own section for various things. In the time since Venice became a safe haven, this place has served as the single area for research. Also, it is one of the busiest clinics and health institutions in the city. Seeing as how it is quite busy, beds are few and thus, most often times, those with lesser conditions are sent home. Properly trained doctors and nurses are few and valuable. Topics

Angelo's Courtyard
Surrounded by a sweeping church, this courtyard is more like its own oasis than anything else. Bleached stone walls envelope a rather large patch of green grass, littered with trees and a few benches. The careful work of Monks from years previous has obviously paid off, because even in a world of chaos and death, this places remains striking. Flower beds line the walls, and gaping arches feed the way in and out. Some people come here for religious purposes, where as others come here to find an escape from the outside world. In any case, the Courtyard has recently become much like the St. Marks Square of the East part of the city. Topics

Residential
Venice is full of numerous communities, some of them good and some of them bad. While a few of the wealthier families have managed to secure their own homes, many people live in apartments. Even some of the old hotels have been made into apartments for the refugees. Many buildings have an older look and appeal to them, and they tend to have a canal close by for easy transportation.
